Ceramic coating is a hard, sacrificial layer applied over your car's paint, glass, trim and wheel faces so that sun, rain, haze and everyday grime sit on top of it instead of bonding into the clear coat, and at IGL's Experience Centre in Shah Alam it costs RM2,200–RM4,800 depending on the package and your vehicle size. There are four packages (Poly, Quartz, Arcane and Kenzo) with a 1, 3, 5 or 7-year warranty, your car is in the shop for 2–3 days, and IGL collects and delivers it free anywhere in the Klang Valley.

Outside the Klang Valley, authorised IGL installers apply the same coatings: tell us where you are and our team will point you to the closest one. IGL's coatings are low and zero-VOC, graphene-reinforced, and already used in over 50 countries, and every package comes with a physical warranty certificate you take home. For the full price breakdown, the cost per year and the questions to ask other shops, see ceramic coating price in Malaysia.

Why ceramic coating matters in Malaysia's climate

Klang Valley weather is hard on paint, all year round:

  • Year-round tropical sun. Cars parked outdoors take constant UV exposure, which is what fades paint and breaks down an unprotected clear coat over time.
  • Monsoon downpours. Heavy rain doesn't just wash a car — water sits, dries and leaves mineral spotting if it isn't beaded and shed properly.
  • Haze season. Airborne particulates and industrial fallout settle on paint and bond into the surface if left too long.
  • Bird droppings and tree sap. Common under the shade trees along most Klang Valley streets and parking areas, and acidic enough to etch into bare paint fast in the heat.

A ceramic coating gives the paint a sacrificial, cleanable surface so this contamination sits on top instead of bonding in — which is also why the annual maintenance below matters more here than in a drier climate.

Our ceramic coating packages

All four packages are applied at the Shah Alam centre and include: a detailed wash and paint decontamination; single-stage paint correction (including normal paint-watermark correction); your chosen IGL coating with a registered warranty period; exterior-glass preparation with Glass+ and a window coating; coating on all four visible wheel faces (wheels stay installed); exterior trim coating; headlight coating; and basic interior cleaning. Interior coating is not included in any package.

Warranty on every package covers verified premature coating failure. It does not cover scratches, swirl marks, stone chips, water-spot etching, bird-dropping damage, accidents, repainting, improper washing, or damage from neglected contamination.

Across all four packages, published pricing runs RM2,200 – RM4,800. Final price depends on vehicle size — small cars and sedans at the low end of each range, large SUVs, 4x4s, MPVs and vans at the high end. Exact figures are confirmed when you book. For what ceramic coating costs in Malaysia, including the cost per year, see our ceramic coating price guide.

Maintenance is mandatory on Quartz, Arcane and Kenzo, not optional. To keep your warranty valid, your car needs a maintenance visit at the end of each year of the warranty, except the last one: 2 visits on Quartz, 4 on Arcane and 6 on Kenzo. Each visit must fall within 60 days before or after the 12-month anniversary of the coating date. Maintenance includes a detail wash, basic interior detailing, paint-watermark correction, tar removal, normal Poly coating repair and a Premier top-up. It's priced by vehicle size, and the price is the same every year: RM300 (standard cars) / RM350 (large SUVs) / RM400 (XL vehicles). Final category and any corrective work are confirmed at inspection.

Poly includes one free maintenance check-up. Poly packages booked at the IGL Experience Centre include one free maintenance check-up at the end of year 1. It is the same check-up as paid maintenance on other coatings, which costs RM300 (standard cars), RM350 (large SUVs) or RM400 (XL vehicles), and like paid maintenance it must fall within 60 days before or after the 12-month anniversary. It is a check-up only and does not extend Poly's 1-year warranty. Poly has no paid maintenance visits.

Corrective and interior work, priced separately

Some jobs are not part of the coating packages. IGL sells these as standalone services, with their own prices. As with coating, the low end is for Standard vehicles and the high end for XL. Large sits in between.

The graphene technology inside these coatings

All four packages are built on Graphene Infinite, IGL's own graphene dispersion. Graphene Infinite uses the ProShield+™ Lumina graphene additive from PETRONAS. IGL developed the dispersion itself; PETRONAS developed the additive it draws on.

Where and how it's applied

Every package above is done at the IGL Experience Centre in Shah Alam, built around equipment most detailing shops don't run in-house. IGL also offers a separate undercarriage restoration service — dry-ice cleaning, sanding and Aegis coating — for cars that need more than the standard wheel-face coating in the packages above. See the Shah Alam ceramic coating page for the equipment in detail, the building, and what to expect on the day.

Free collection and delivery across Klang Valley

Your coating job takes 2–3 days in the shop. Instead of driving to Shah Alam twice — once to drop off, once to collect — IGL will pick your car up and bring it back to you anywhere in Klang Valley, free of charge. This applies whether you're in Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, Subang, Klang, or elsewhere in the Klang Valley. Ask for it when you book.

If you're outside Klang Valley, see the installer routing below.

The process

  1. Book by WhatsApp or the enquiry form, telling us your vehicle and the package you're considering.
  2. Drop your car off at the Shah Alam centre, or arrange free Klang Valley collection — no need for two trips.
  3. Wash and paint decontamination, then single-stage correction, followed by coating application. This takes 2 days for Poly and Quartz, 3 days for Arcane and Kenzo.
  4. Collect your car, or have it delivered free, along with your physical warranty certificate.
  5. Book your maintenance visits (Quartz, Arcane and Kenzo) at the end of each year of the warranty, except the last, within 60 days before or after each 12-month anniversary, to keep the warranty active. Poly packages booked at the IGL Experience Centre include one free check-up at the end of year 1, within the same 60-day window; it does not extend the warranty.

Not in Klang Valley?

The Experience Centre in Shah Alam, with free collection across the whole region, is where most customers get coated. Frequently asked questions

Is ceramic coating good for my car?

It suits a car that lives outdoors in the Klang Valley, because the coating takes the sun, rain, haze and bird droppings that would otherwise bond into your clear coat. It is a commitment as well as a protection: the warranty covers verified premature coating failure only, and does not cover scratches, swirl marks, stone chips, water-spot etching, bird-dropping damage, accidents, repainting, improper washing or neglected contamination. Quartz, Arcane and Kenzo also need a paid maintenance visit each year, while Poly bought at the IGL Experience Centre includes one free check-up (see below). Light marring is corrected by the single-stage paint correction included in every package; paint that is cracked, peeling or oxidised cannot be coated.

What are the disadvantages of ceramic coating?

The main trade-offs are the upfront cost, the yearly maintenance and the limits of the warranty.

  • Cost. IGL packages run RM2,200–RM4,800 by package and vehicle size; see the price guide.
  • Maintenance. Quartz, Arcane and Kenzo need a maintenance visit at the end of each year of the warranty, except the last one, within 60 days before or after the 12-month anniversary. It costs RM300 (Standard), RM350 (Large) or RM400 (XL). Poly has no paid visit: Poly packages booked at the IGL Experience Centre include one free maintenance check-up at the end of year 1, within the same 60-day window.
  • Warranty limits. Scratches, swirl marks, stone chips, water-spot etching, bird-dropping damage, accidents, repainting, improper washing and neglected contamination are not covered.
  • What is not included. Interior coating is not part of any package. Two-stage correction, severe-defect correction, wheel removal and barrel coating, heavy interior stains, mould, pet hair and extraction work are quoted separately.
  • Paint condition. Cracked, peeling or oxidised paint cannot be coated.
  • Time. 2–3 days in the shop, though free collection and delivery spares you a second trip.

How much does ceramic coating cost in Malaysia?

At IGL's Shah Alam Experience Centre, published prices run RM2,200–RM4,800, depending on the package and vehicle size. Poly starts at RM2,200 and Kenzo tops out at RM4,800; the ranges for each package are in the packages section above, and the price guide covers what the price includes and the cost per year.

How long does a ceramic coat last?

IGL's warranty runs 1 year on Poly, 3 years on Quartz, 5 years on Arcane and 7 years on Kenzo. On Quartz, Arcane and Kenzo that holds as long as you keep up the yearly maintenance visits (Quartz needs 2, Arcane 4 and Kenzo 6). The warranty covers verified premature coating failure; improper washing and neglected contamination are excluded, so how you wash and care for the car counts as well. Poly packages booked at the IGL Experience Centre include one free check-up at the end of year 1, within 60 days before or after the anniversary like paid maintenance; it does not extend the 1-year warranty.

Is ceramic coating permanent?

No. Every IGL package carries a warranty of 1, 3, 5 or 7 years, not a lifetime, and the Quartz, Arcane and Kenzo warranties depend on a maintenance visit at the end of each year of the warranty, except the last.

Which car coating is best in Malaysia?

No coating is best for every car, so compare quotes on the same few points rather than on the headline price: how many warranty years, what the warranty excludes, whether yearly maintenance is required and what it costs, how much paint correction is included, which surfaces are covered, and how many days the car is in the shop. For IGL those answers are:

  • Warranty: 1 year (Poly), 3 (Quartz), 5 (Arcane), 7 (Kenzo). A sensible starting point is the tier whose warranty matches how long you plan to keep the car.
  • Exclusions: scratches, swirl marks, stone chips, water-spot etching, bird-dropping damage, accidents, repainting, improper washing and neglected contamination.
  • Maintenance: required for Quartz (2 visits), Arcane (4) and Kenzo (6), at RM300 / RM350 / RM400 a visit by vehicle size. Poly has no paid visit; Poly packages booked at the IGL Experience Centre include one free check-up at the end of year 1, which does not extend the warranty.
  • Paint correction: single-stage, including normal paint-watermark correction, is in every package. Two-stage and severe-defect correction are priced separately.
  • Surfaces: paint, exterior glass, all four visible wheel faces (wheels stay on), exterior trim and headlights. Interior coating is not included.
  • Time in the shop: 2 days for Poly and Quartz, 3 days for Arcane and Kenzo.

Ask any other shop the same questions and get the answers in writing. We can only speak for IGL's figures; the price guide sets out the full list of questions and the cost-per-year arithmetic.

Which is better, ceramic coating or PPF?

PPF (paint protection film) gives all the surface benefits a coating gives and gives much more protection against stone chips and scratches, while a coating suits owners on a limited budget, repainted cars and a weekend car at low risk of scratches or stone chips.

  • PPF adds everything a coating adds: the gloss, the water behaviour and the easy washing. On top of that it offers much more protection against stone chips and scratches. Light scratches can self-heal; deeper damage is repaired by polishing and repairing the film's top coat.
  • Ceramic coating does not have the thickness and elasticity to protect against stone chips or deep scratches.
  • Thickness, for scale. Typical industry figures, not IGL's specification: ceramic coatings are typically a few microns thick, and PPF films typically about 150–200 micron.

IGL offers both, and IGL Shield is a coating applied over existing PPF. WhatsApp us for a PPF quote.

Which is right for my car?

A coating suits three cases:

  • Limited budget. A coating suits owners who have a limited budget.
  • Repainted car. PPF should not be installed on a car that has been repainted.
  • Weekend car. If the car is driven only at weekends and the risk of scratches or stone chips is low, a coating is good enough.

WhatsApp us if you are not sure which fits your car.

Should I do both?

IGL recommends a hybrid: PPF on the front of the car (the bonnet, bumper, headlights and side mirrors) and a coating on the rest. WhatsApp us for a quote.

Should I apply PPF or ceramic coating first?

If you already have PPF, IGL Shield is applied over it. It is a separate service of light F1/F3 polishing followed by IGL Shield application, priced RM1,500 (Standard) to RM2,000 (XL), with Large vehicles in between. Final vehicle category is confirmed after inspection.

How long does my car stay in the shop?

2 days for Poly and Quartz, 3 days for Arcane and Kenzo. You do not need two trips to Shah Alam: free collection and delivery is available anywhere in the Klang Valley.

Do I have to do anything after the coating is applied?

Yes, for Quartz, Arcane and Kenzo: a paid maintenance visit at the end of each year of the warranty, except the last one (Quartz 2 visits, Arcane 4, Kenzo 6). Each visit must fall within 60 days before or after the 12-month anniversary of the coating date to keep your warranty valid. It includes a detail wash, basic interior detailing, paint-watermark correction, tar removal, normal Poly coating repair and a Premier top-up, and costs RM300 (Standard), RM350 (Large) or RM400 (XL), the same every year.

Poly has no paid maintenance visit. Poly packages booked at the IGL Experience Centre include one free maintenance check-up at the end of year 1. It is the same check-up as paid maintenance on other coatings, which costs RM300 (Standard), RM350 (Large) or RM400 (XL), and like paid maintenance it must fall within 60 days before or after the 12-month anniversary. It does not extend Poly's 1-year warranty.

What does the warranty actually cover?

Verified premature coating failure. It does not cover scratches, swirl marks, stone chips, water-spot etching, bird-dropping damage, accidents, repainting, improper washing or neglected contamination. You take home a physical warranty certificate.

Can I get my car collected instead of driving to Shah Alam?

Yes, collection and delivery is free anywhere in the Klang Valley. Whether you are in Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, Subang or Klang, ask for it when you book.

Do you coat SUVs, motorcycles or EVs?

Yes. IGL coats all vehicle types, including SUVs, motorcycles, EVs, commercial vehicles and fleets, and no vehicle type is turned away. Final vehicle category and any corrective work are confirmed after inspection.
